Like most people, you might have started yoga to help alleviate aches and pains. And that it will surely do. But there’s so much more. I remember seeing a cartoon of a man waking up in the morning with a bewildered look on his face. He says to his wife, “I think I am dead! I don’t feel any of my usual aches and pains this morning.”
Pain had defined his life. That morning, he found nothing to define it.
Yoga can give you so much more than just pain relief. As Swami Nirmalanda says, “Your body can actually feel GOOD!” That’s one reason why she always says, “Do more yoga!”
“Yoga helps you with your aches and pains… while showing you that there is so much more available to you… In order to get more of what yoga promises, you simply do more.” ~ Swami Nirmalananda
We have seen students stop coming to classes once they have become pain free. Oh, how we wish they knew and experienced what they are missing!
So here’s a heads up: don’t forget why you started yoga.
But most important, remember what you can experience if you continue doing more yoga. Swami says, “You can rely on yoga to make you more joyous and more alive…. Svaroopa® yoga will give you the bliss of your own being, which is why it is called svaroopa.” The bliss is the quality of your experience or sensation of svaroopa – your own Self. Just as you experience water as being wet, you experience your Self as being blissful.
